Life at a Brine Pool
During our New America exploration expedition, the team made three dives to explore unique and biologically diverse sites in the Gulf of Mexico. Two dives took the team to an underwater lake - a brine pool - to collect chemosynthetic mussel samples from the shoreline. Nearby, a dive visited a methane seep with a carbonate crust to characterize the tubeworm biology there.
