Tell us about your work/research. What kinds of things do you do?
A highly skilled Seafarer with over 15 years of experience gained in offshore Oil and Gas & marine operations worldwide. Qualified Rigger and Able Body Seaman, Certified submersible pilot for both CE-5 submersibles and UBW CS-7 (max depth 1,140 meters) Diploma/certification of Training from ECA / Hytec Robotics Montpellier. Extensive background in the offshore drilling industry both in the North Sea sector and international waters. An established core team member with experience working in various regions and environments around the world. Experienced in the capacity of Barge Supervisor and Stability engineer for offshore MODU managing the Marine Department both operationally and regulatory. A conscientious worker that pays particular attention to safety, correct working procedures, and my working environment with a positive, discreet, professional, and safe attitude towards both work and colleagues.

My wife Cristina and my two sons Thomas and Miguel.
What element of your work/study do you think is the most fascinating?
Working with new technologies and the people that make it happen!
What other jobs led you to your current career?
As a Barge Supervisor on a MODU, I contribute to the successful drilling campaigns for Songa Offshore over several years, supporting the Songa technical team as a key member that achieved the prestigious honor of 5 years of operations without an LTI. On my last vessel, I was involved in planning and performing dives to max depths of 1,140 meters and was given the opportunity to be trained and certified to pilot both CS-7 and CE-5 submersibles. I was involved in planning and implementing submersible system maintenance, including life support systems, electrical systems, and communication equipment, etc. I also worked as part of a team with responsibility for all rigging and lifting operations, supervising cargo reception, storage, and offloading. Overseeing rigging and crane lifts while monitoring and maintaining the cranes and lifting equipment while ensuring compliance of cranes and all lifting equipment.

What are your hobbies?
I have a passion for rugby and I’m involved with my local club as a youth trainer. When I am at home I work on our family farm where we breed pedigree Blue texels and Shorthorn cattle.
What advice would you give someone who wants to have a career like yours?
Be a team player. Venture outside of your comfort zone. View every person you meet as a door that may lead you to a new opportunity. Show up early and work hard. Think of yourself as a lifelong learner, you're never too old to learn new things! Search for the value in feedback or criticism. Cultivate perseverance.
