Patricia Miloslavich
Patricia Miloslavich is currently a Senior Professor at the Department of Environmental Studies, Universidad Simón Bolívar, where she is in charge of the Marine Biology Laboratory and teaches several courses related to marine biology and biodiversity. She was Coordinator of the Biology Faculty at USB directing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Biological Sciences. She was Senior Scientist of the Census of Marine Life Program and responsible for the global marine biodiversity synthesis, Chair of the Caribbean Region Committee, and lead the Natural Geography in Shore Areas (NaGISA) project for South America. Her research focuses on reproduction of marine invertebrates, especially gastropod mollusks, being the Curator of the Mollusk Collection of the Museo de Ciencias Naturales at the Universidad Simón Bolívar. She is author of more than 50 publications in scientific journals and books, and editor of the book Caribbean Marine Biodiversity: the known and the unknown. She was a member of the Ad hoc Advisory group for the IOC Ocean Sciences Section and within the Pool of Experts for the United Nations World Ocean Assessment.Patricia Miloslavich graduated in Biology at the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela in 1987 and completed her Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Quebec at Rimouski, Canada in 1995.
