Mihai Leonte
Mihai Leonte is currently a third year graduate student at the University of Rochester. Mihai's main focus is studying the oxidation of dissolved methane emitted from seafloor seeps through microbial breakdown. Understanding the role of microbial oxidation is important towards predicting methane fluxes to the atmosphere from oceanic environments.
Mihai graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2011 with a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Earth System Science, received a masters in Geology in 2014, and is currently a Ph.D candidate at the University of Rochester.
"The Nautilus is by far the biggest and technologically advanced ship that I have ever sailed on. I'm excited to get on board and see what she can do!"
