The Boys & Girls Club of Broward County has been a part of my life since 1992. I started attending as a child, growing up within the building walls. I got my first job at the club as a teen, and later got a scholarship to Nova Southeastern University, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I use my Education Degree to run programs, unique games in the recreation rooms, and to educate the members in interactive ways. As the Social Recreation Director, I show the members that learning is fun, even after school.
The Marti Huizenga Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit organization located in Broward County, Florida. The club severs members from the ages of 7-18 years old. There are four core areas -- Character & Leadership, Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, and the Arts -- in which there are programs offered for members of all ages. The programs range from Money Matters which teaches teens how to save and manage their money, to Immersion Learning developed by Dr. Ballard, bringing exploration to children.
