Deanna Bergondo
Deanna Bergondo is an Associate Professor of Marine Science at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Deanna has taught courses in Marine Geochemistry, Atmospheric and Marine Sciences, Marine Renewable Energy, Geographic Information Systems, and Coastal Oceanography at the Academy. Deanna studies the circulation in estuaries and how limited vertical exchange of water can contribute to low oxygen conditions in bottom water that can adversely impacting the ecosystem.
Deanna Bergondo graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1996 with a degree in chemistry, completed her Master’s degree in 1999 in ocean engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and earned her PhD in chemical oceanography at the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island in 2004.
