Casey Machado

Casey is a mechanical engineer for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution working on the NUI team this expedition.

When not at sea with NUI, Casey’s work focuses on the mechanical design of ROV/AUV systems for the Deep Submergence Lab. Casey led the mechanical design effort for this vehicle to provide an under-ice presence in previously unreachable areas under glaciers and ice shelves. This design is part of a family of new “light/hybrid” tethered ROVs which will be able to provide a variety of capabilities for underwater exploration.
