Aaron Micallef
Aaron Micallef is involved with seafloor mapping and geological sampling aboard the E/V Nautilus.
Aaron is a Marie Curie research fellow with GRC Geociències Marines at Universitat de Barcelona. He is investigating submarine canyons in passive and active margins such as the Catalan, Patagonian and Hikurangi margins. His work focuses on analyzing acoustic data from these canyons using quantitative geomorphological techniques to identify the fundamental geological processes responsible for canyon initiation and evolution. Aaron has worked as an environmental consultant in the Maltese Islands and a volunteer geologist in East Africa.
Aaron graduated from the University of Malta with a degree in geography and the University of Oxford with a Masters degree in geomorphology. He completed his PhD in marine geology at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.
