Multi-Vehicle Ops: The Future of Ocean Exploration
For the past three years, the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute (OECI) has brought together commercial, non-profit, and academic partners to push the boundaries of autonomous operations at sea.
During this three-week expedition, our team collected 245 eDNA samples, filmed hundreds of hours of midwater video, and mapped 5000 square kilometers. Successful collaborations require exceptional teamwork, and we were thrilled to see the level of professionalism, flexibility, and diligence exhibited by every person on board.
We appreciate all the hard work from our colleagues at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the University of New Hampshire, Exail, the University of Rhode Island, and OET. We are very grateful to NOAA OER for funding this concept over the last three years and supporting our goals to revolutionize ocean exploration.
