Colorful Microbial Mats in the California Borderland
On the first dive of the California Borderland expedition leg, the team of E/V Nautilus explored the Del Mar Seeps off the coast of San Diego. Along the way, they recovered experiments left behind by Scripps Institution of Oceanography researchers and sampled microbial mats and other seep fauna.

California Borderlands: Our Unknown Backyard
This cruise will explore the ocean floor in previously unstudied portions of the California Borderlands, offshore from some of the most tectonically active (as well as densely populated) areas of California, using a combination of high resolution multibeam mapping, sonar surveys and targeted ROV dives.
